Kimaya Kama translates to Magical Desire. Kimaya Salaskar moved to South Orange in 2009 with her husband Manoj, and originally opened her first Kimaya Kama store there in 2012. By 2015 Kimaya Kama was ready to expand to a larger space and the store moved to Maplewood Village. For the past year and half Kimaya Kama has thrived at 168 Maplewood Avenue with the help of the community. What sets Kimaya Kama apart from other boutiques are the unique products.
Kimaya Kama’s product line ranges from casual leggings, workout gear to cocktail dresses, silk tunics and dresses that can be worn to the office. The staff at Kimaya Kama is always happy to help put an outfit together for you based on the occasion for your splurge. The products are sourced from different parts of India, Bali, Turkey and smaller manufacturers in America.
This store is a collection of all Kimaya’s favorite things, she makes it a point to only stock a few pieces in each style and print so that the products stay unique. The tunics are made specially for us in India, most tunics have the logo embroidered on them as well. Kimaya’s emphasis is on the character of clothing and not just the amount sold. Contemporary Indian tunics are our signature products that are available all year. These tunics are available in cotton and silk, in various lengths. They can be worn with jeans, leggings, over swimsuits as beach cover ups. A white tunic with jeans and leggings is comfortable and stylish.
Kimaya Kama’s other merchandise includes sterling silver jewelry and devotional statues. They even have a small men’s collection with cufflinks and silk pocket squares.
